Scene 1
The scene opens on a busy street in a large city. People are rushing to and fro, going about their daily lives.
A young woman, Sarah, is walking down the street. She is carrying a large bag and looks tired and stressed. She stops at a crosswalk and waits for the light to change.
As she waits, she sees a man sitting on a bench across the street. He is homeless, and he looks dirty and hungry. Sarah feels a pang of guilt as she sees him. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a few dollars. She crosses the street and gives the money to the man.
The man looks up at her in surprise. “Thank you,” he says. “This means a lot.”
Sarah smiles. “You’re welcome,” she says. “I hope you have a good day.”
Sarah turns and walks away. She feels good about helping the man, even if it was just a small gesture.
The light changes and Sarah crosses the street. She continues on her way, feeling a little bit lighter.
Scene 2
Sarah arrives at her office building. She takes the elevator to her floor and gets off. She walks down the hall to her desk.
As she gets closer, she sees that her boss, Mr. Smith, is waiting for her. He is standing in her doorway, and he looks angry.
“Sarah,” he says. “I need to see you in my office.”
Sarah’s heart sinks. She knows that this is not going to be good.
She follows Mr. Smith into his office. He sits down behind his desk, and she sits down in the chair across from him.
“Sarah,” he says. “I’m very disappointed in you.”
“What did I do?” Sarah asks.
“You were late for work again,” Mr. Smith says. “This is the third time this month.”
“I’m sorry,” Sarah says. “I had a doctor’s appointment this morning.”
“That’s not good enough,” Mr. Smith says. “You need to be more reliable. If you can’t be on time for work, then I’m going to have to let you go.”
Sarah is shocked. She can’t believe that she is being threatened with her job.
“Please,” she says. “I need this job. I’ll do better. I promise.”
“I hope so,” Mr. Smith says. “But this is your last warning.”
Sarah gets up and leaves Mr. Smith’s office. She is scared and upset. She doesn’t know what she is going to do if she loses her job.
She walks back to her desk and sits down. She puts her head in her hands and tries to calm down.
She knows that she needs to find a way to be more reliable. She needs to show Mr. Smith that she is worth keeping around.
She takes a deep breath and starts to work. She is determined to prove herself to Mr. Smith.
Scene 3
Sarah works hard for the next few weeks. She is on time for work every day, and she does her best to do a good job.
Mr. Smith notices her improvement. He starts to give her more responsibility. Sarah is happy to have the chance to prove herself.
One day, Mr. Smith comes to Sarah’s desk. “Sarah,” he says. “I’m very impressed with your work lately. You’ve been a valuable asset to the team.”
Sarah is thrilled. She knows that she has finally made Mr. Smith see her worth.
“Thank you,” she says. “I’m glad that I could help.”
Mr. Smith smiles. “Keep up the good work,” he says. “I’m sure you have a bright future ahead of you.”
Sarah smiles back. She knows that she has found her place at the company. She is determined to make the most of it.
